There are many branches of astronomy, some of which are as follows




Planetary astronomy Planetary astronomy This branch of astronomy focuses only on planets. Scientists of this branch are called Planetary Scientists because they study the end of planetary shape and origin, most of which take care of the planets inside the solar system. , Outside detection is now beginning and scientists are engaged in studying how the atmosphere can be there, knowledge of geology, space physics, biology is also very important in this branch of science because to find life on other planets. Knowledge of biology is required.

Stellar astronomy: Astronomy scientists study stars, black holes, nebulae, white Vamana stars, and supernovas, etc. In this science, physical and chemical processes occurring under the stars are taken care of.

Solar Astronomy: Under Solar Astronomy Solar Astronomy, only the Sun is studied, the effect of the amount of sunlight and the radiation coming from the Sun is affecting the Earth astronomers do.


Galactic Astronomy: Galactic Astronomy - Under this branch of astronomy, our Galaxy Milky Way and other galaxies are studied.

Cosmology: Under this branch of astronomy, the whole universe is studied, how the universe originated from Big Bang, how galaxies were formed, theories of dark matter, dark energy etc. are studied in it.

In earlier times, the sky was studied only by optical telescope, but in the present day besides the visible light, the whole universe was also studied by other waves of light such as infrared light, X rays, gamma rays, radio waves etc. goes. On the basis of these, different branches of Astronomy like Infrared Astronomy, X Ray Astronomy, Gamma Ray Astronomy and Radio Astronomy have also been developed.

खगोलशास्त्र या एस्ट्रोनॉमी  के कई शाखाएं हैं जिनमें से कुछ प्रमुख इस प्रकार है:

Planetary astronomy – ग्रह खगोल विज्ञान एस्ट्रोनॉमी की इस शाखा का फोकस केवल ग्रहों पर होता है इस शाखा के वैज्ञानिकों को प्लानेटरी साइंटिस्ट कहते हैं क्योंकि वह ग्रहों के आकार उत्पत्ति उनके अंत का अध्ययन करते हैं इनमें से ज्यादातर सौरमंडल के अंदर स्थित ग्रहों का ध्यान रखते हैं,  सौरमंडल के बाहर भी कुछ ग्रहों का पता अब लगने लगा है तथा वैज्ञानिक इस बात का अध्ययन करने में लगे हुए हैं कि वहां का वातावरण कैसा हो सकता है, विज्ञान की इस शाखा में जियोलॉजी, स्पेस फिजिक्स, बायोलॉजी के ज्ञान का भी बड़ा महत्व है क्योंकि दूसरे ग्रहों पर जीवन को ढूंढने के लिए बायोलॉजी का ज्ञान आवश्यक है.

Stellar astronomy : तारों का खगोल शास्त्र  के  वैज्ञानिक तारों, ब्लैक होल्स, नेबुला, श्वेत वामन तारे, और सुपरनोवा आदि का अध्ययन करते हैं,    इस विज्ञान में तारों के अंतर्गत होने वाले भौतिक और रासायनिक प्रक्रियाओं का ध्यान किया जाता है .

Solar astronomy : सूर्य खगोल शास्त्र  सोलर एस्ट्रोनॉमी के अंतर्गत केवाल सूर्य  का ही अध्ययन किया जाता है, सूर्य के प्रकाश की मात्रा और सूर्य से आने वाले विकिरणों का पृथ्वी पर क्या प्रभाव पड़ रहा है इसका अध्ययन सौर खगोलशास्त्री करते हैं.

Galactic astronomy : गैलेक्टिक एस्ट्रोनॉमी –  एस्ट्रोनॉमी कि इस शाखा के अंतर्गत हमारी गैलेक्सी मिल्की वे और अन्य गैलेक्सी ओं का अध्ययन किया जाता है.

Cosmology : एस्ट्रोनॉमी की इस शाखा  के अंतर्गत पूरे यूनिवर्स का अध्ययन किया जाता है, यूनिवर्स की उत्पत्ति बिग बेंग से कैसे हुई,  गैलेक्सीओं का निर्माण किस प्रकार हुआ, डार्क मैटर, डार्क एनर्जी आदि के सिद्धांतों का इसमें अध्ययन किया जाता है.

पहले के समय में आकाश का अध्ययन केवल ऑप्टिकल टेलीस्कोप के द्वारा ही किया जाता था,  परन्तु वर्तमान समय में दृश्य प्रकाश के अलावा प्रकाश की दूसरी तरंगों जैसे इंफ्रारेड प्रकाश, एक्स रे,  गामा रे, रेडियो वेव्स आदि के द्वारा भी पूरे यूनिवर्स का अध्ययन किया जाता है. इन्हीं के आधार पर इंफ्रारेड एस्ट्रोनॉमी,   एक्स रे एस्ट्रोनॉमी, गामा रे एस्ट्रोनॉमी तथा रेडियो एस्ट्रोनॉमी आदि एस्ट्रोनॉमी की अलग अलग शाखाएं भी विकसित हो गई है .
